VALUES:
COMPANY START-Up
Highridge seeks opportunities
to create a larger value for investments than
the underlying assets as demonstrated by its
U.S. and European housing strategies. Pinpointing
a resurging demand for entry-level homes in 1993
as the California economy started its recovery,
Highridge launched a new homebuilding company
and directed an aggressive statewide expansion
that propelled it to sixth largest in California
in just seven years. Capitalizing on the state’s
huge long-term housing demand, Highridge sold
the company in 2002 at a substantial multiple
to a NYSE-listed company.
Similarly Highridge established a French housing
company in 1997 that it grew to third largest
in France before selling it in 2001 to a French
public company.
